Custom-built low voltage transformers for operating imported machinery
THE team at Transpower are often asked for custom-built transformers – and this is often by customers looking to operate imported machinery.
Recent examples include custom-built transformers designed to operate machinery imported from China, Japan, and from the United States.
We were asked to design a 15kVA isolation transformer converting a 415V three phase supply to a 240V three phase supply. This was supplied in an IP23 steel enclosure on wheels, used for a Japanese import. Similarly, a 20kVA isolation transformer converting a 415V three phase supply to 380V was built for a Chinese import.
More recently, a 20 kVA isolation transformer converting a 400V three phase supply to a 208V three phase supply was supplied to a customer looking to use a control unit imported from the USA. This was supplied with a 63A 4-pin socket outlet.
All of the custom-built transformers were fitted with MCB protection.
